(Maricopa) On Thursday, September 6th, Desert Wind Blended Learning students took part in a Toy Expo. This expo was the end product of a seven week long cross-curricular project where students brainstormed, designed, built, marketed, and analyzed the cost of an original toy. 8th grade Blended Learning students Catalina Springstroh and Baily Martinez stated, "We liked coming up with an original toy because it challenged us creatively as a group. We tried to incorporate all of our personalities into our toy to make it marketable to as many children as possible."

Over 45 toys were showcased and hundreds of visitors were on hand to vote for their favorites. The winning toys were:

ü  Denny the Nature Dog, created by Catalina Springstroh, Jazmin Perry-Marr, Baily Martinez, Aubree Nez-Garcia and Autumn Hardy.

ü  Simple Simon, created by Justin Maas, Grace Hadenfedlt, Jessica McVay and Miranda Schroeder.

ü  Food Wars, created by Skylar East, Elijah Castillo, Alyx Johnson, Xeria Cabral, Amanda Schwenk and Malcolm Robinson.

Congratulations to all of the students involved!
